Wow….can not believe we are on the countdown for the end of the school year already. We are in the middle of 6 different rotations of physical fitness skills. We have completed our sit-ups and we are in process of completing sit and reach which tests our flexibility. Then we will focus on push-ups, shuttle run, the mile run and the pacer. So, lots to do and we are hoping for some warm weather to come our way!!
The weather might not have been the greatest but all the kids were troopers. We had 44 runners from Georgetown come out and run in the rain! They all did a great job and we are so proud of our GT Runners. We have a few highlights and photos to share.
Kendall from 5th Burdis, took 1st place for 5th grade girls with a time of 22:00
Owen from 5th Gort took 2nd place for 5th grade boys with a time of 20:33
Austin from 5th Gort took 4th place for 5th grade boys with a time of 22:22
Coleton from 3rd Flory took 2nd place for 3rd grade boys with a time of 22:40
Things to remember:
- JRFH =Jump Rope for Heart
- JRFH takes place during your childs P.E. Class. All students will be jumping regardless if they raised money for the American Heart Association.
- All Money raised goes to the American Heart Association for research to fight heart disease!
- ALL PLEDGE ENVELOPES ARE DUE ON OR BEFORE FEBRUARY 17, 2017!

We are busy finishing up our hockey/pillo polo unit with all of our classes. Stay tuned for an update about the annual 5th grade teams vs. the teachers. We will be playing that on Feb. 1. 🙂
Starting January 27 -February 1(our 4 day rotation), we will be talking with our classes about Jump Rope For Heart. Each student will be getting information and a pledge envelope when they come to P.E., Jan. 27-Feb.1. Please take the time to read the information and sign up your child/children if you are willing to help raise money for the American Heart Association. Last year our school raised $8,648.00 and our goal this year is to raise the same or more. Please keep checking the blog for more information about JRFH!
On Friday, December 16 the fourth graders from Mr. Kooikers class got to head to Hudsonville Lanes for winning the P.E. C.A.R.E.S. food drive contest. The fourth graders got to bowl two games, and had so much fun. Thanks to Hudsonville Lanes for supporting our food drive cause and allowing us to go bowling for free. Thanks again to all of our GT families for making the food drive a success.
P.S. Thanks to the Hilaski Family for bringing in pizza to share with Mr. K’s fourth graders. It was super good!
We are so proud of our students and their families in how they help our Hudsonville Community! GT students donated 2,653 items for LOVE INC. The class that donated the most items was Mr. Kooikers 4th grade!! They donated 392 items!! They will each get a PE CARES t-shirt and a bowling trip to Hudsonville Lanes!!
We are in the middle of our Nutrition month and discussing the 5 food groups and what we need to do to keep our bodies healthy! We are also bringing in lots of food to help with PE CARES (collecting and regiving essential supplies). K classes continue to work on underhand throw. Here are a few pictures!
What a GREAT night for the Turkey Trot!!!! The weather was beautiful and we had over 1000 students there with their families running the race. Thank you SO much to ALL our volunteers and sponsors!
