Bowling

K-5th grade started their bowling unit.  3rd-5th gr. learned how to take a 3 step approach and all students learned their cue words (push, swing, bowl, hello).   This week the students will learn how to keep score.  We are SO thankful to the Hudsonville Bowling Alley for the use of their lanes and bowling equipment.  All students will earn 3 free games at the alley when we complete the unit!!!  Here are a few pics 🙂

JRFH IS COMPLETE!

Once again our GT families have risen to the occasion.  You have all surprised us with your kind hearts and donations.   The GT fam has raised $9,165.51 for the American Heart Association this year.   All students enjoyed a day of jumping rope and learning how to use Chinese jump ropes, thanks to our amazing student teacher Ms. VanNoord.   Check out the video of the kids “jumping the ring”, one of their FAVORITE  JRFH activities.  Thanks again to Ms. VanNoord for her twirling abilities!!!!

PE CARES BOWLING TRIP

SO SO FUN!!!  Mr. Kooikers class brought in the most items for our PE CARES donations and we went on our bowling field trip to Hudsonville Lanes!!  We had a ball  🙂  We want to thank Hudsonville Lanes for hosting us and being a sponsor for all our bowling activities.  If you happen to go there over Christmas Break…please give them a big THANK YOU!!!  Here are a few pictures:

THE COUNT DOWN BEGINS!!

I can not believe we are less than two weeks away from the start of school.  I know we have enjoyed some time off but we are ready for routines again.   So with routine comes school and with school comes math, reading, science, history, recess, and SPECIALS!   Especially P.E. 🙂

Please come prepared for P.E. the first day of school with your tennis shoes.  Remember that we ask for all students to keep a clean pair of shoes in their locker at school, so they are always prepared.   GT rotates on a four day schedule and that will be tricky to remember when each class has P.E.   So by keeping a pair of clean tennis shoes at school,  they will always have them.   Tennis shoes do not need to be new, just clean!  Dirty shoes leave a mess in the gym and make our floor very slippery.   Clean shoes = clean floor!  Thanks for your cooperation.

See you next week at the open house,

Mrs. Nienhuis and Mrs. VanKoevering

8 wks left!!!!

Wow….can not believe we are on the countdown for the end of the school year already.  We are in the middle of 6 different rotations of physical fitness skills.  We have completed our sit-ups and we are in process of completing sit and reach which tests our flexibility.  Then we will focus on push-ups, shuttle run, the mile run and the pacer.  So, lots to do and we are hoping for some warm weather to come our way!!
